Medieval Dynasty: The Valley vs The Oxbow

Choose The Valley for solo play, or The Oxbow for solo or co-op. If friends will join your campaign, pick The Oxbow. For a solo run, the Oxbow-specific story and character options are the next things to consider.

The quick answer

Both maps are part of Medieval Dynasty. Start with the way you want to play: a solo-only campaign in The Valley, or a solo or shared campaign in The Oxbow.

Our recommendation: decide whether multiplayer matters before planning your settlement. Choose a setting you want to spend time in; do not assume that a different map guarantees faster progression.

Map comparison

The Oxbow launched with its own story and quests, character creation, and a playable female character. The console co-op release described support for up to four players total.

A practical way to choose

For a new campaign, use this checklist before following a walkthrough.

  • Playing together: choose The Oxbow and check the crossplay guide for platform and version considerations.
  • Playing alone: both maps are options. Consider whether the Oxbow story and character creation appeal to you.
  • Following a quest or location guide: match its map to the one in your save.
  • Continuing an old campaign: verify save-transfer options before making plans that depend on moving to another map.

What about The Backwood?

The Backwood is planned for 2027 and was still unavailable on September 8, 2026. Its store page describes a free, uninhabited map with Creative Mode and solo or co-op play. It is a future option, not a released third map.
